LASER CUTTING

WE SOLVE YOUR REQUIREMENTS

Efficient, non-contact processing of multiple geometries and materials

Whether in automotive and aerospace industries or electronics production - lasers enable the fast and precise cutting of a wide range of materials and meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. With its ability to create complex profiles and detailed structures, laser cutting has established itself as the standard for modern production processes.

Challenges in laser cutting

The success of laser cutting is due to a wide range of possibilities and advantages. However, the technology also involves specific challenges.

Fine laser spots in large working fields

Laser cutting usually entails processing large-format materials. These can be sheets of paper or metal foils. Optimal machine design, therefore, requires the largest possible working field. At the same time, however, the spot diameters on the workpiece must not be too large, as this limits the minimum feature size and the cleanliness of the edge.

For this reason, RAYLASE mainly uses pre-focusing beam deflection units from the AXIALSCAN or FOCUSSHIFTER series for laser cutting. They allow the use of larger beam diameters before focusing and achieve the smallest possible focus diameter even for large working fields.

High dynamics and high laser power

Productivity is the focus of almost all cutting processes. Therefore, high dynamics of the beam deflection units are important. Only in this way the high cycle rates required can be achieved and the desired quality of corners can be ensured at the same time. The high cutting speed also requires high laser power to provide sufficient energy input.

Therefore, in its deflection units for laser cutting, RAYLASE uses special light-weight mirrors that ensure good dynamics even with large beam diameters. At the same time, with large beam diameters, higher laser powers are also possible.

Automated laser cutting for series production

Today, laser cutting has become an integral part of fully automated series production. Whether cardboard packaging in paper industry or metal foils in battery production, laser cutting enables efficient and flexible production of complex parts on a large scale. However, automated production requires well-thought-out integration of all process steps to ensure quality and reliability.

That is why we at RAYLASE have developed products and tools that are specially tailored to the requirements of automated laser cutting production:

  • The AXIALSCAN FIBER series with its dust-proof housing enables the use of high laser power and offers reliable operation even under harsh production conditions.
  • The SP-ICE-3 and RAYGUIDE software supports applications such as cutting on the fly, making it ideal for continuous roll-to-roll processes as it can ensure high efficiency and seamless material flow.
  • The PROCESS-DATA-ANALYZER records and analyses e.g. position and speed data of the deflection units and thus enables optimization of the cutting results - even in dynamic applications such as processing on the fly.

Interesting applications and use cases

The versatile possibilities of laser cutting open up new pathways in industrial production and enable innovative solutions in a wide range of industries. Below you will find some inspiring application examples and use cases that illustrate the performance of our laser technology in real application scenarios.
