HEATING AND HARDENING OF METALS WITH HIGH LASER POWER
The FOCUSSHIFTER DIGITAL II HP research prototype has been developed as part of the EcoHardSteel KMU project to “replace energy-intensive furnace processes with toolintegrated laser hardening in sheet metal processing”. This new tool not only eliminates the need to use oil baths, which consume large amounts of energy, space and raw materials. It also makes material processing more flexible, by providing the option of selectively hardening certain areas of a workpiece or heating certain areas for mechanical post-processing. This reduces material requirements and flexibly combines heating and hardening processes, thereby accelerating the individual processes significantly. In addition to these obvious fundamental process improvements, RAYLASE has integrated functions to automatically detect the processing areas and optimize the laser process accordingly and also the querying of quality information at every step in the process. This enables continuous checking of the status of performance data in the laser deflection unit and of process data.
